Caught Eating in the Night
Charbel and Young Archie Winner Mario Sukkar
Winners of the Young Archie 2014 competition were announced yesterday in a ceremony at the Art Gallery of NSW. The Young Archie finalists have been on display at the Art Gallery of NSW since 19th July.
Principal, Peter Wade, today congratulated Delany's Mario Sukkar who won the 13-15 yr category with his portrait of his brother, Charbel, "Caught eating in the night". Mario was presented with his award when he and his family attended a special ceremony held at the Art Gallery yesterday. Mario chose his brother as the subject of his portrait because he is cool and makes everyone laugh.
Mario had previously won a gold medal for being runner up in the Young Australian Art Awards with an artwork entitled, "The Three Sisters". We look forward to seeing Mario's continued success in the world of arts.
Well done Mario!
